Ray Goldenchild
Ray Goldenchild is a managing partner of a sports marketing consulting company and is the founder of Orix Sports Club, a non profit club created to provide opportunities for kids to participate in organized sports irrespective of their ability pay. Coming to Canada as a young boy from Democratic Republic of Congo after fleeing from war torn Angola, Ray found sports the bridge for him to integrate into a new place and culture.
For his unwavering passion and drive over the past 20 years working with kids and youth in soccer, Ray was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015 from the African Canadian Soccer and Cultural Association for outstanding contribution to the community. In 2019 received an award from Langara College on the International Day For Elimination of Racial Discrimination for his continued work in fighting against racial discrimination in soccer.
Creating Free Sports For Kids is an opportunity for Ray to give back to the community especially newcomers to Canada, the same opportunities that were afforded to him through sports. Ray’s vision is for every child to have the opportunity to play sports by removing financial barriers and allow children to play sports in a safe, accessible and inclusive environment.
